Richard C. Hartnack

Rick Hartnack is vice chairman and head of consumer and small business banking at US Bancorp.  He joined the  institution in April 2005 from Union Bank of California, where he had served as vice chairman, director and head of the community banking group since 1991. Prior to that, he ran community banking as executive vice president at First Chicago and had previously been in charge of corporate banking at First Interstate Bank of Oregon, where he began his banking career in 1971. Rick served in the Marine Corps from 1967 to 1971, attained the rank of captain and flew 220 combat missions aboard the F-48. He received 14 Air Medals and the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat 'V.' Active in industry and community affairs, he is a past director of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and of MasterCard, Inc., and a past chairman or vice chairman of several institutions, including the California Chamber of Commerce and the California Bankers Association. Rick and his wife, Dail, live in Minneapolis. They have three grown children.
