Lieutenant Colonel Patrick J. Finneran, Jr. USMC (Ret) 

Patrick Finneran was commissioned in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1967 via the NROTC program at Notre Dame and is a Vietnam combat veteran. He retired in 1987 in the grade of lieutenant colonel after 20 years of active duty.

Finneran is an aerospace industry consultant and former president and CEO of Sabreliner Corporation. He is also retired from the Boeing Company following a distinguished 22-year career, during which he held various leadership positions including president of Boeing Support Systems, a $7 billion business that provided a complete spectrum of defense services for warfighters.

Finneran holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and a master's degree from East Carolina University. He is an honor graduate of the U.S. Marine Corps Basic School, U.S. Marine Corps Amphibious Warfare School, U.S. Air Force Command and Staff College, and a graduate of the National War College. In 2004, he was awarded the Navy League's prestigious Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz Award for major contributions to America's maritime strength and national security. He is also a recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award of the Mendoza School of Business at the University of Notre Dame. In April 2009, Finneran received an honorary doctorate from Notre Dame at the same time President Obama was given the honor.

Along with serving on the board of the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, Finneran is the chairman of the Advisory Council for Graduate Studies and Research at the University of Notre Dame, vice chairman of the board of directors for the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation, board member of the St. Louis Municipal Opera, and a fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
