Please join us as the New York Leatherneck Ball celebrates its 50th anniversary and continues the tradition of Honoring Marines By Educating Their Children.
The evening promises to be night of pageantry and entertainment, featuring internationally renowned action artist, Michael Israel. His performance is an eye-opening thrill that can best be described as Cirque du Soleil meets Picasso. He paints larger-than-life canvasses on-stage to high-energy music and dedicates much of his art and entertainment to the men and women who protect our way of life. His 911 “Hero” tribute, depicting a New York City firefighter rescuing a small child, has garnered over 12 million views on YouTube. He has performed for all facets of the military, and at Presidential events in Washington D.C. Michael's art has auctioned as high as $250,000! Michael is proud to honor the Marines with his performance and go the extra mile using his art to raise scholarship dollars to help educate their children. He promises to deliver to you the most exciting and exhilarating patriotic performance ever! – guaranteed to have you on your feet cheering! He's also committed his art for live auction following his performance to benefit the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation.
Today, the FDNY "Emerald Society" Pipes & Drums has the distinguished honor of being the largest fire service pipe band. The band continues to play at weddings, parades, funerals and, most notably, the June 2007 "Charleston 9" funeral in South Carolina. The competition band continues to compete, mainly in the eastern United States and occasionally abroad. In July 2006 the band placed 2nd in Grade 4a at the All Ireland Competition, the first American band to ever place in the top 4 at this competition in its 65 plus year history. In the spirit of all our departed Brothers, both in the band and in the department, we will continue to dedicate ourselves and our music to them by proudly playing and marching to American, Irish and Scottish tunes and representing our Society and the FDNY. We are proud of our Irish Heritage, proud to be Americans, and proud to be members of The New York City Fire Department. As present members of the band, we will carry on the tradition into the future, praying and hoping that our future Emeralds will carry on what was started by the Charter Members of 1962.
We're looking forward to a special performance from the New York Fire Department Pipe and Drums!
